HANOOKRA'S Border Leicester, Poll Dorset and Merino and Poll Merino rams met strong competition at the stud's One Stop ram sale at Camelback, Bark Hut on Kangaroo Island, on Friday, ensuring a total clearance.
In a buoyant sale, Rodney and Tracey Willmott cleared 112 of their 118 performance-recorded rams.
The former KI producers relocated to Lucindale a decade ago but have continued to bring quality rams to the island.
Of the 38 registered bidders 32 were successful.
There was more than a $150 lift in average in the Border Leicesters, which hit a $1650 high three times.
These rams – also the highest priced in the sale – were knocked down to Mike and Simone Nicholls.
Hanookra has joined the SuperBorder group this year and the highest Border$ index ram in the catalogue at 129 was among the top price trio.
The Nicholls, who recently expanded their Eyre Peninsula farming enterprise at Ceduna to KI, bought five rams, all sons of Hanookra 11-7, for a $1570 average.
A $1250 high was reached twice in the Poll Dorset offering, one selling to Damien Willmott and Julie Boyle, Vivonne Bay, and the other to Simon and Sue Lovering, MacGillivray.
The volume Poll Dorset buyer was Michael Vogt and Rebecca Jamieson.
Stewartdale, Naracoorte, secured the $1400 top price Poll Merino ram for the second year in a row, among their tally of eight rams.
Hanookra 14-84 was a May 2014-drop, large-framed, structurally correct ram with outstanding fleece measuring 18 micron with 2.6 standard deviation, 14.4 coefficient of variation and 99.9 per cent comfort factor.
Jim Chapman, Western River, NSW, bought 13 rams to a top of $1000 three times in his tally of seven Borders Leicesters and six Poll Merinos.
