GALAXY Prime SAMM stud has proven it is hard to beat, winning the lamb production maternal competition for the third successive year.
Principal Geoff Gale, Monarto South, said he was "elated".
But he says that winning comes with some pressure.
Mr Gale entered the competition to show what the SAMM breed was capable of achieving.
"I have complete faith in my sheep, so I thought I'd go up against the other breeds," he said.
"It's also a way of benchmarking ourselves.
"If you don't try, you don't know."
Mr Gale said using the Lambplan index was the best way of allowing the different breeds to compete against each other. The maternal competition had been a great example of that.
The competition incorporated two ewes and a ram from each entrant involved in a maternal breed and a combination of Australian Sheep Breeding Values and visual assessment to judge the animals.
