A DRAFT of 109 high-quality Poll Dorsets greeted 35 registered buyers at the Hart family's Glen Devon ram sale at Two Wells on Monday.
Rob, Helen, Lachlan and Mileah Hart were rewarded for their efforts with a $30 lift in average to $1117.
In his opening address Landmark auctioneer Leo Redden commended the family on their presentation.
"The rams have fast growth and finishing ability and you cannot help but be impressed with them," he said.
Last year, only four rams sold for less than $900 whereas in this sale 28 sold under that figure.
But competition was stronger at the top end and the average still rose in line with industry buoyancy.
Ten specially selected stud quality rams started the sale, with $2100 the top price.
Chris Gilbertson, Murtonga, Millicent, bought the GD140167, a son of home-bred ram GD120215, and which was in Glen Devon's shorn pair of rams at the recent Royal Adelaide Show.
He bought another ram for $1600, which was fifth in its Adelaide Lambplan class and a son of Valma 110420.
Landmark and Elders were agents and Landmark's Leo Redden auctioneer.
