RENDITIONS of smash hits from some of the biggest names in music will ring out of Mundulla on Saturday, March 21 for the biennial fundraising concert.
Adelaide-based band Acoustic Juice has performed in 2011 and 2013 for the open air concerts with Neil Diamond and Johnny Cash tribute nights.
This time, vocalist Rohan Powell and the other band members will return, performing songs from Neil and Johnny and also Kenny Rogers and many other top artists.
Proceeds from the Legends Concert will be shared among three charities - the Royal Flying Doctor Service Tatiara Support Group, the Leukaemia Foundation and St Andrew's Hospital Prostate Cancer Machine.
Before the main act, well-known local band Shamrock will play hits from The Seekers
The last event raised $16,000 for the RFDS and attracted more than 400 people from throughout the South East, western Vic and Adelaide to the small community.
Chairman Geoff Guy says the committee is hopeful of raising $20,000 from concert sales and expects it to be entertaining for all ages.
"It's all coming into place. We've had some terrific support from local businesses donating prizes in the raffle," he said.
"The only thing we can't control is the weather but we've had two great nights so far."
The RFDS provides a valuable service to the area, with 86 landings in Bordertown and 37 landings in Keith in the past year.
Mr Guy said they wanted to share the money raised with other good causes.
They have selected the St Andrew' Hospital appeal for a $1.2-million machine to screen prostate cancers and a Leukaemia Foundation accommodation facility at Northfield.
Those affected by blood cancer, and their families, can stay in 15 two and three-bedroom apartments while undergoing treatment in Adelaide.
"They are all charities which help country communities - we don't know if any one of us might need to use any one of the three tomorrow," fellow committee member Jan Thorpe said.
A huge raffle with lots of great prizes donated by generous local businesses will be drawn on the night.
The major prize is a three-night accommodation package for up to four people at Lovering's Beach Houses at Emu Bay on Kangaroo Island, along with the ferry costs.
To add to the fundraising effort, a lamb drive will be conducted again. Local breeders have already promised some prime lambs.
Prostate cancer supporter and two-time Melbourne Cup winning jockey John Letts has offered to promote the event on TAB radio and is also interested in attending. If he is able to fit it in his schedule, a Meet and Greet John Letts night will be organised for the previous night.
