PRICES rose across the board at Mount Compass prime cattle sale on Wednesday last week.
Numbers were well-back on the previous week - many producers had already on-sold stock because of the dry conditions on Fleurieu Peninsula.
The 550-head yarding was 400 down on the previous week's prime sale.
Pro Stock Livestock's Kym Endersby quoted cows as being up by 10 cents to 20c a kilogram on the previous week, steers up by 10c/kg, milk calves up 20c/kg and store steers and feeder types up 10c/kg.
Mr Endersby said the rise in prices across the board could be attributed to the shortage of numbers in this week's sale.
Steers made to $2.14/kg, best cows to $1.43/kg and heifers to $1.95/kg.
JB&JD Bailey, Echunga, sold 32 Angus heifers to $1.85/kg, and CW&BM Cawthorne, Middleton, sold three Murray Grey steers at $2.14/kg.
The Compton family, Victor Harbor, sold four Friesian cows at $1.43/kg, and JR&JP Fisher, Second Valley, sold 18 Murray Grey heifers to $1.95/kg.
P&S Krichauff, Delamere, sold 28 steers, their Charolais-crosses making to $1.82/kg and Angus to $1.86/kg.
RD&BJ Magor, Myponga, sold two Friesian/Hereford cows at $1.40kg.
