THE first Mount Pleasant sheep and cattle market for 2015 drew a good yarding in terms of both numbers and quality.
Numbers were boosted by stock sent in from vendors affected by the recent Adelaide Hills bushfire.
All the usual trade and grazier buyers were in attendance, plus pastoral and feedlot buyers.
Lambs sold to $140 for S&R Dohnt, Eden Valley - well up on the $115 top at the December sale.
Other good quality lambs made $136, $130 and $125.
Ewes sold to $100 and full-wool ewes made $90 to Thomas Foods International.
TFI also took a pen of wethers from the Foletta family, Birdwood, at $101, as well as the top hoggets at $82 and $81.
Cows and calves made to $820 for R Bogers, Gumeracha, and cows to $1180 for A&J Bush, Mount Pleasant.
Four large bullocks made $1180 and $1140 for C Smyth, Gumeracha.
A mixed quality yarding of steers sold from $520-$910, with D&M Schultz, Cambrai, selling a grainfed Angus steer at the top end.
Heifers made from $480-$780 with S&R Dohnt selling the top Angus heifer.
A handy red Belted Galloway bull in from MD&CA Peters in the Kersbrook fire zone made $860 and a Limousin bull from A&R Kennell, Tungkillo, made $1650.
The annual Mount Pleasant weaner sale will be held next Friday, January 30, at 1pm, with 500 cattle booked in to date.
