DESPITE sweltering temperatures, the Mount Pleasant market attracted good numbers on Wednesday last week with 1650 sheep and lambs and 180 cattle yarded for sale.
The heat did not deter buyers either, with a small gallery of mainly processors competing well.
Landmark Mount Pleasant's Colin Fawcett said the sale was "pretty solid" given the trying weather conditions.
Good processor demand buoyed lamb prices, on par with a quality yarding, with the tops selling for $118.
This pen was a run of 28 lambs sold by DM&SM Schirmer, Cambrai. The Schirmers also sold lambs at $109.
Long Gully, Angaston, sold 48 lambs at $114 and more at $110.
Also selling lambs at $110 were Paech Brothers, Palmer, and Talinga Farm, Tungkillo.
The cattle yarding of 180 saw the best steers, three grainfed yearlings sold on account of Hearnden Farms, Keyneton, make $850.
AG&BM Loffler, Mannum, sold a sole steer for $800, and NF&EA Loffler, Truro, also sold one at $790.
Mr Fawcett said various other cattle, mainly steers, sold from $700 to $750.
The best milk vealers made to $710 for FR&FJ Dennis, Mount Pleasant, with other milk vealer steers selling from $500 to $640.
Best vealer heifers made $590 and Mr Fawcett said most of the better runs made $490-$590.
