VITERRA has put the call out to find 1500 casual employees to help with the 2015-16 harvest rush across SA and western Vic.
Viterra group operations manager Michael Hill said its regional workforce played a critical role in smooth harvest operations.
“We are one of the largest regional employers in SA and our harvest recruitment is our biggest intake of new employees for the year,” Mr Hill said.
Viterra has range of positions suitable for people seeking short-term work between October and January.
Training is provided for the various roles which include general grain handling, bunker operations, weighbridge operations and grain classification.
Casual employees also have the opportunity to secure permanent roles when they become available.
Wudinna country general hand Brenden Lofler joined Viterra as a casual last harvest and now has a permanent role with the company.
“Starting with Viterra as a harvest casual provided me with the experience to get a permanent job. You have the opportunity to undertake training and develop your skills in a short period of time. You can work your way up if you put your mind to it,” Mr Lofler said.
Viterra’s casual harvest employees work in a supervised team environment. Training is provided to ensure employees can do their job correctly and safely.
