DAIRY businesses across the state performed well at the recent Brand SA Regional Awards.
The awards are an annual showcase of the achievements of individuals, groups and organisations that have made significant contributions to regional SA.
This year, entries were almost 400 above last year's total, at a record 2346 nominations.
Of the seven regions, the Hills and Coasts was the most competitive with 597 entries.
The Hills and Coasts awards were presented last month.
Brand SA chief executive officer Karen Raffen was full of praise for the calibre of entrants.
"It's great to see all of the hardworking and dedicated people who are making outstanding contributions in their region and to the state as a whole, receive the recognition they deserve," she said.
Since it started with three farming families in 2006, the Fleurieu Milk Company has grown continuously and this year was awarded the Telstra Large Business Award for the Hills and Coasts region.
Marketing and sales manager Nick Hutchinson said the company focused on continuous growth and on finding niche markets.
In the past 12 months Fleurieu Milk Co had installed a new yoghurt manufacturing plant, released new yoghurt products and found new markets for them.
This increased demand had seen the need for more supply, with the company taking on new dairyfarmers.
