AT JUST three months old, Parrabel Rockstar O’Kalibra has broken the Australian record price for a dairy female.
The Holstein calf sold for $112,000 this morning as lot one at the Global Impact sale in Gippsland, Vic, breaking the previous $101,000 record which was set in 2012 by red and white Holstein calf Bluechip Apple Spice.
Offered by Parrabel Genetics C. Allen and J. Elmes, Nowra, NSW, Parrabel Rockstar O’Kalibra was bought by US livestock agent Dusty Schirm on behalf of well-known Californian breeders Frank and Diane Borba.
Sale manager Callum Moscript said the calf was the first direct daughter of an EX97 dam to be sold in Australia.
Mr Moscript said because the dam was in Europe and embryos could not be sent from Europe to the US, the Global Impact Sale provided an opportunity to take the impressive cow family to North America.
The calf's dam Decrausaz Iron O’Kalibra is the first Holstein to achieve EX97 status in Switzerland, and carries a string of accolades including World Champion Cow 2013, European National Champion 2013 and supreme champion Swiss Expo 2015, 2013 and 2012.
Sire of the calf was Canadian bull MR Chassity Gold Chip.
Mr Moscript said the inaugural sale event also smashed the record for an unjoined Jersey heifer, with Lightning Ridge CMD Verbatin Karlie selling for $22,000.
The heifer was a "pick of the pair" lot offered by Declan Patten and Callum Moscript, Sale, Vic, and purchased by Daryl and Greg Bryce, Green Pines Jerseys, Nullawarre, Vic.
The entire sale of 67 Holstein and Jersey lots averaged $8970, with Holsteins averaging $9240 and Jerseys averaged $7883.
