IT IS a lot easier to judge cattle than people, according to dairy junior handlers judge Tom Pearce, Progressive Holsteins, Bega, NSW.
Winner was Casey Treloar, 21, Edge Holsteins, Victor Harbor.
Casey, who grew up in the dairy industry, said she started competing in the show ring - with her father's help - at age three.
She won the state competition in 2009 before going on to win the national competition in 2010, and said she had a passion for the industry and tried to pick up tricks and tips from watching others in the ring.
Mr Pearce said he was very impressed by the quality of the cattle handling.
"SA has got a lot of very good young leaders," he said.
Winner of the sub-junior competition Lucy Newman was the lucky recipient of an Ayrshire heifer donated by the Ayrshire Society of SA.
