A RECORD price of $2.94 a kilogram was set at the Roe Creek cattle sale at Alice Springs on Thursday.
Lucy Creek Station, via Alice Springs, made the top price with a line of 87 Hereford/Angus milk tooth steers.
The steers weighed 321.3kg and they were knocked down to Platinum Livestock, for Garry Willson's Coolalie feedlot at Kadina.
The first pen of the sale was also knocked down to another SA buyer.
SAL Keith's Adam Bradley bought 30 Poll Hereford heifers for client Trent Walker, for his Keringa feedlot at Culburra.
The EU-accredited heifers were sold by Mount Riddock Pastoral Company, via Alice Springs. They weighed 403kg and made $2.51/kg.
Landmark Alice Springs branch manager Andrew Stephens said the sale exceeded most vendor's expectations.
"The cattle with a bit of weight attracted lots of competition, but even the cattle under 300kg attracted competition from SA, WA and NSW," he said.
