AuctionsPlus had some huge prices paid for cattle last week with 242-kilogram Wagyu-Angus steers from Tumbarumba, NSW, making an astonishing $5.57/kg liveweight.
Steers weighing less than 250kg made $3.13/kg, 8 cents/kg up on the previous week while heifers of the same weight range made $2.08-$2.90/kg, averaging $2.64/kg.
Steers 250-300kg made $2.62-$3.52/kg, to average $3.12/kg, up 3c/kg. There was a large offering of heifers in the same weight range which made an average of $2.75/kg, up 2c/kg.
Yearling steers 300-350kg made $2.57-$3.22/kg to average $2.93/kg and heifers made $2.74/kg, up 14c/g.
Heavy steers above 350kg made $2.72-$3.34/kg to average $3.10/kg, up 12c/kg.
Sheep and lamb numbers increased slightly to 29,804.
Small numbers of new-season lambs are appearing and selling at $10-$15 better than last year's prices.
First-cross lambs weighing 22-24kg made $86-$92, some 28kg suckers made $101 and a large line of March/April-drop out of Gulgong, NSW, 30kg, sold at $115.
Merino wether lamb numbers firmed and prices varied from $42-$100.50 to average $66.
Merino ewe lambs sold from $80-$150 for Moorundie-blood lambs out of SA, averaging $115.
Proven breeders scanned in-lamb to terminals made $100.50-$134 and aged scanned ewes $90-$128.
