ROSELEIGH Angus stud's annual bull sale represented some of SA Angus Week's best value buying.
Twenty-nine of the 30 HBR and APR bulls which sold through the ring at the Fairbanks complex near Keith made between $3000 and $5000, including 13 at the $3000 base price
It was only the $9000 sale topper, Roseleigh H45 which met strong competition, with an opening bid of $5000.
Roseleigh's Cowley family, Pinnaroo, is celebrating 60 years breeding Angus cattle this year but it was the gallery of repeat and a couple of new buyers who received the gifts.
Many of the good-muscle, fleshy bulls with great temperament sold under the odds.
Ron, Judy, Mat and Julie Cowley sold 30 of 34, May/August 2012-drop bulls to $9000 for a $3958 average-dipping $284 on 2013.
The June 2012-drop sale topper was the heaviest in the catalogue at 984kg and had a good balance of figures including 200- and 400-day weights in the top 5 per cent of the breed at +53 and +97 respectively.
H45 was bought by Mark and Leah Jacob, Colac, Vic, back for their fourth year in a row.
