NUMBERS and prices eased at the Ouyen Livestock Exchange, Vic sale on October 9 where 7166 new-season lambs, 2500 old lambs and 4000 mutton sheep were yarded.
Topping the sale at $135 were 35 Poll Dorset/-SAMM-Merino sucker lambs sold by N&F Hamilton, Timberoo, Vic.
The Hamiltons backed this up with 48 lambs of the same description at $134.60.
Landmark's Luke Atton said quality lambs sold firm to dearer.
"There was a fair supply of restocker interest," he said.
Elders' Evan Fernandez said the overall market was back a bit.
"There wasn't as much competition on the supermarket lambs, but store lambs sold to strong competition," he said.
Hannig and Ferguson, Walpeup, Vic, sold 72 suckers at $129.60, and Mayr and Boughen, Karoonda, sold 88 at $128.
A&L Hyde, Lameroo, sold 69 suckers at $126 and 127 at $123, J Wakefield, Walpeup, sold 26 at $124 and L&R Mayr, Karoonda, sold 97 at $120.
Vultures Flat, Murrayville, Vic, sold 70 at $118 and T&S Monaghan, Tempy, Vic, sold 39 at the same price.
N&P Byrnes, via Mildura, sold 94 Merino suckers at $105.
Export suckers made from $100-$135, trade suckers $85.60-$109.60 and store/light lambs $73.60-$92.
The absence of a couple of domestic buyers lowered by 5-12 cents across lambs,although competition from a southern restocker made prices for lighter weights more competitive.
Mutton was $20-$25 easier.
