AN off-shears sale of about 2000 sheep by Bordertown combined agents on Wednesday last week was "pretty solid" considering the way the season had turned, according to Henriks Rural Bordertown's Brenton Henriks.
He said there was a good attendance of buyers from Naracoorte, Kingston, Penola and western Vic, plus local Tatiara buyers, and interest was particularly strong for older breeding ewes.
A pen of 148 1.5-year-old Merino ewes, from AE&CM Tucker, May/June 2013-drop, September-shorn, Moorundie Park-blood, sold at the $128 sale top.
A run of 143 Merino ewes, August 2013-drop, Orrie Cowie-blood from RN&YM Hagger, made $122.
